Banana Nut Smoothie

Regularly we get the 'All Natural Dannon' plain yoghurt from Walmart or our local supermarket here. It comes in a white container and the other flavoured yoghurt of Dannon also come in the same type of containers - same size, colour and are kept all in the same cold zone, of course they are labelled differently, with their respective proper names. But if you are in a hurry you might just pick the wrong container and that is what happened with Abhishek (remember that midnight I was shopping for Amaretti cookies @ Walmart in a big jiffy). He definitely brought back home 'All Natural Dannon' but the only difference was that it wasn't the usual plain one, but 'VANILLA (with other natural flavour)'...

And what use is that of vanilla flavoured yoghurt?? I really did not know at that instance, only coz I was hoping to have a plain one at home to be eaten with our daily lunches / dinners (I needed it).
Hesitantly I opened the container and found this smoothie recipe printed on the lid, so I thought ''why not''!!

Only the big necessity was now that of a banana, rest all was at home.

What to use :
(Serving - 1)

  • Banana - 1
  • Vanilla yoghurt - 1 cup
  • Walnuts - 1/4 cup
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • Honey - 1 tsp
  • Ground nutmeg - a small pinch
  • Ice cubes - few

How to make it :
  • Take a ripe banana. Peel it and chop into small chunks.
  • Put the banana in a blender.
  • Add the vanilla yoghurt into the blender.
  • Chop the walnuts into smaller pieces (so that they blend well).
  • Take the chopped walnuts, cinnamon powder, honey and put it all into the blender.
  • Take a couple (about 4) of ice cubes and drop them with all other ingredients.
  • Blend on hight speed for about 2-3 minutes until its smooth.
  • Pour it out on a glass.
  • Sprinkle a small pinch of nutmeg powder on top.
  • Enjoy it now or refrigerate to savour it next day!!
Note :
  • This yields a tall glass of the smoothie.
  • If you don't like nutmeg powder (like me), you may skip adding it.
  • In case you don't have vanilla flavoured yoghurt, you may try using plain yoghurt. You may then add 1-2 drops of vanilla essence may be (just may be)!! And if you do that let me know, how it was like.
  • Abhishek doesn't like banana at all, so this was the first thing that I ever made which he had with much reluctance. He did not hate it, but his words were 'It's ok, not bad'. (ha ha ha)
