I saw the video for this dessert and was so tempted to make it. It seems so easy and with just 4 ingredients, 3 which are so easily available anywhere in the market.
Since I decided to make this on the spur of the moment, I actually used Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Roll which I had handy in my fridge (rest all 3 ingredients were anyways readily there with me).
Ingredients :
- Puff pastry
- Chocolate bar
- Egg - 1 (for egg wash)
- Crushed nuts - handful (I am using almonds)
Method :
- Put out the puff pastry on a clean flat surface like a cookie sheet.
- Put the chocolate bar in the center of the pastry sheet.
- Use a sharp knife and cut diagonal lines on the pastry sheet, along both sides of the chocolate bar, keeping about an inch of distance between cuts.
- Remove the corner pieces.
- Starting from the top, fold down one flap after another, alternating between right and left until that last one is closed.
- Take the bottom and top flap of the pastry sheet and fold them up, making sure you close the extras.
- Lightly beat the egg and with a brush put a coating over the chocolate covered pastry sheet.
- Sprinkle crushed nuts over.
- Bake at 415°F for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Occasion - Casual dinner party (20 Mar 2016)
